About this project
The bridge was originally built in 1959. It is inspected every two years They have to consider worker safety and traffic patterns during the inspections. Bridge inspections have to follow both federal and state requirements. The federal requirements are covered by the National Bridge Inventory Standards,

It is important that bridges are inspected to make sure they are maintained properly and continue to be safe.
What's unique about this project?
At the time it was constructed, the Glen Canyon Bridge was the highest arch bridge in the world. It is 700 feet over the Colorado River.
